In that respect they may claimto present a record of actual events, andthus to bring before the Reader, howeverimperfectly, a rough sketch of the greatIndian Mutiny such as it appeared to theeyes of a young Subaltern Officer of NativeCavalry, who had the good fortune tobe engaged in its suppression.
