A TWO-FOOT STEAMBOAT
The author was an ardent boat-builder,and he well remembers how he combed theChildren's Department of the local libraryin search of a book that would tell him somethingabout boats, and especially for informationregarding the construction ofmodels. He found books on model airplanes, toys, electricity, radio, and chemistry, but alas! nothing about model boats. Hevowed then that when he became a man hewould write a book on model boats—a bookthat would contain all the treasured informationhe had accumulated during his boat-buildingyears.
This book is the result of that vow, andthe author earnestly hopes that it will gladdenthe heart of every boy who builds andsails a boat. There are probably few happiermoments in a boy's life than when hesees his little model steamer proudly makeher way across the park pond, or his littlesail-boat respond to the summer breeze.
The author takes this opportunity to thankhis wife, who acted as his amanuensis in thepreparation of this manuscript.
