The following sketches and notes wereoriginally intended as personal reminiscencesof a very interesting and enjoyable holidayspent in a country somewhat out of thebeaten track. But changes forecasted bythe authoress having become actual fact,and the countries described assuming aprominent feature of recent internationalconcern, it is hoped that the productionof this little volume will prove of suchinterest as warrants its publication beyondthe circle originally intended.
