Preface

The aim of this little book is simply to offer afew hints and suggestions to those about to build,or those interested in building, and to present a seriesof designs of low-cost cottages.

These designs were made, by request, by differentNew York architects who have turned their attentionto the subject. In view of the rapid growth of “ArtIdeas,” and the great improvement in taste that hastaken place during the last few years, it is believedthat there is a demand for dwellings reasonable in costyet artistic and home-like.
