The Central Committee on the United Study ofForeign Missions sends out the fourteenth text-bookwith hearty appreciation of the favor with which thethirteen already issued have been received. The phasesof work which have been treated and the manner oftheir treatment have appealed to a large constituencyof various names, resulting in an increase of knowledgeand an impulse to pray and work and give.

This is not a book for children, but a book aboutchildren the world over, and with its accurate statementof facts solicits attention to the great need ofnew effort in behalf of children in non-Christian lands.The author, Mary Schauffler Labaree (Mrs. BenjaminW.), a missionary daughter, granddaughter, wife, andmother, was born into an environment of missionaryintelligence and activity in which her girlhood wastrained. Later years of experience in Persia, and subsequentassociation with many nationalities in ourown land, have given her large opportunity to knowwhereof she writes with tender, sympathetic touch.If the book may lead others to know and do, its purposewill be fulfilled.
