Be it remembered, that on the twenty-second day of October, A.D.1825, and in the fiftieth year of the Independence of the UnitedStates of America, RUFUS PORTER, of the said District, has depositedin this Office the title of a book, the right whereof he claims asproprietor, in the words following, to wit:—

"A Select Collection of valuable and curious Arts and interestingExperiments, which are well explained and warranted genuine, and maybe performed easily, safely, and at little expense."

In conformity to the act of the Congress of the United States,entitled, "An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing thecopies of Maps, Charts and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors ofsuch copies, during the time therein mentioned;" and also to an act,entitled, "An act supplementary to an act, entitled, an act for theencouragement of learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts andBooks to the Authors and Proprietors of such copies, during the timestherein mentioned, and extending the benefits thereof to the arts ofdesigning, engraving and etching historical and other prints."
