Not all illustrations are mentioned in the table of ‘Embellishments’.Most chapters include both a illustration above the chapter head, anda trailing caption at the end. With a few exceptions the headingillustrations have no captions.
Illustrations which refer in their captions to a facing page havebeen positioned to precede that page. These were not included in thepagination. Others, also mentioned in the table, have been movedslightly to fall on paragraph breaks. While these were included inthe pagination, no page numbers were printed, andare skipped here as well.
Any corrections are indicated using an underlinehighlight. Placing the cursor over the correction will produce theoriginal text in a small popup.
