If the reader will cast a thought back to theclassic sea mystery of the Marie Celeste, it willbe clear how much this book owes its inception tothe extraordinary derelict, the mystery of whichremains unsolved to this day. But the author disclaimsany attempt in the following pages to offer asolution of the mystery and has only used certainof the features surrounding the condition of theMarie Celeste at the time she was found abandonedin mid-ocean for the purposes of his story-narrative.
