PREFACE TO FOURTH EDITION.

A FOURTH preface, Mr. Murray!!!

Keyl, andthe talented amateur John M——n, who, contraryto the advice of many friends, has determined thatthe sword shall be his profession rather than thepencil.

“Captain T——r has all his life been a most enthusiasticsportsman, but never broke a dog, until a year[vi]ago, when he happened to come across the Major-General’swork on ‘Dog-breaking.’ Since then he hastrained two entirely on the system laid down in thebook. People say they have never before seen dogsso well broken—certainly the owner never has.”

“Always an ardent disciple of St. Hubert, CaptainT——r is now still more so from the increased gratificationhe derives from the performance of animalstrained entirely by himself.”

Reader, why not give yourself a similar gratification?
